HOW IT’S DONE
The first step in painting restoration and conservation is making sure medium is properly cleaned using our proprietary solutions, chemicals and procedures. Each restoration takes a different formula to ensure proper cleansing of the painting.
The next step is to fill the damaged areas of the canvas which are to be restored with gesso. Once dried, we delicately sand to make sure the gesso is level. The goal is to make sure the original texture of the pigment is contained and not destroyed with respect of the artists original work. If the artwork contains texture, the goal is the same but to reshape the areas of texture that may have been destroyed.
Our smoothing process ensures proper flatness of the artwork to recreate a surface for restoration of the inpainting with a series of microscopic dots of pigment. The procedure is what makes our work stands out as the Highest Museum Quality.
The areas which have been filled with gesso then become sealed with our proprietary sealant to keep the filler from ever cracking.
The last step is to create a surface for painting using our dusting process over small microscopic areas which we paint over, where we finish the piece with a final coating of an oil varnish.
Our years of painting restoration uses the procedures learned over a lifetime. Our museum quality restoration is a passion and love of ours which drives our attention to detail and are unmatched in the industry.

WHAT JOHN’S CLIENTS SAY!
Mr. Zak did a wonderful job in cleaning my favorite oil painting, despite years of wax buildup and a lot of mildew from our recent move. He’s also a man who’s very gracious, honest and easy to work with.
The restoration work by John Zak is remarkable. John Zak restored several French Old Master portrait paintings of French Royals and Nobles from my personal collection.
I had the pleasure of meeting John Zak as a result of a Google search while looking for an artist to restore a beautiful portrait of my Grandmother, that had, after over 40 years.
